All gas stations in Ulster County will have to post their highest gas price for each grade of fuel, rather than just the “cash only” price now displayed by many.
The new law requires gas stations that charge different cash and credit prices for gasoline display both prices in the identical size so they can be “readily seen by motorists approaching.”
Currently, some stations that have different cash and credit prices list only the cash price, leaving customers to face a higher cost for credit card use with the only mention of it in small print on the pumps.
“This is about requiring accuracy and transparency in advertising so consumers can make informed choices as to where they choose to purchase gasoline.”
